fundraiser information
Part of verbal presentation given Sunday June 23 by longtime bookkeeper Gonny Frech to Parish “We are grateful for all the financial support but would like to point out that all expenses such as hydro, propane and maintenance have increased just as they have in your household. Many of us are used to giving the same amount each week or month but if there is a way you could even slightly increase this it would certainly help the parish to meet future expenses. Next, I would like to inform you of some new projects that were discussed at our previous parish meeting last fall that we are hoping to start. Our church is 118 years old and over the years we have tried to keep up with maintenance to preserve this beautiful place. However, the time has come to do some major improvements to the building. One of the projects, as mentioned, is repairing the outside stairs and walkway. Some of the patio blocks need to be replaced to keep parishioners safe, especially those with mobility issues. Another project is the replacement of the front doors. These doors are old , they don't close properly and have a gap where they join, which I'm sure is a source of heat loss. We expect the cost of replacement to be about $2,000.00. Our most ambitious project will be a major upgrade to the outside of the building. The wood siding is in poor condition, paint is chipping off and there is hardly any insulation in the walls. Repairs have been made in the past but there is need of more than the repairing of the deteriorating wood siding. The proposal is to refinish the outside walls with vinyl siding and properly insulate the walls. This will eliminate the need to continually repair the individual rotting wood siding and paint it every so many years. The siding chosen will closely resemble the current finish of the church. We have received one estimate, last year and the approximate cost will be around $60,000.00. This will be a huge undertaking for our small parish and completion of this project will depend on the support of parishioners. Next week, we will start a new weekly collection fundraiser which will be called Parish Renovation Fund. It will be a separate collection with monies collected in 2white hard hats that will be passed around the pews as has been done on previous fundraising projects years ago . This will happen after communion at each Mass before the meditation song is played. The hat will be sent from the back and move up to the front for the collection. We encourage you to put your loose change in these. If you would like to make a larger donation and wish to get a receipt, envelopes will be provided than can also be put in the hard hats. If anyone wishes to finance either the siding project or the new Church doors, we would place a plaque acknowledging that generous donation in the church. Members of the Finance committee would like to thank all of you for your continued financial and moral support as we do our best to make our Parish grow and become more responsive to the Gospel of Jesus .”

The Jubilee Prayer
Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom. May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally. May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven. May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth. To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever. Amen Pope Francis
